Microsoft’s Explore the digital future programme aims to prepare young people with digital skills for the technology-driven world of tomorrow, demonstrate how diversity helps build better technology, and how it can be used as a force for positive change.
Explore the digital future provides a creative approach to digital skills education, helping educators address the skills gap. It features easy to deliver classroom activities, as well as Microsoft facilitated content and experiences.

What we’ll cover
Join us to hear from the Microsoft team and educator partners on how this exciting new programme can motivate young people to build their digital future around in-demand skills and find inspiring people and skills pathways to exciting and rewarding careers in the tech industry. The programme provides student-focused learning modules that allow them to DISCOVER, EXPLORE and PRACTISE digital skills and technologies that are shaping our world. The programme includes comprehensive educator guides and supplementary content that includes practical real-world examples of the technology that’s having impact.
Timings
4pm- Microsoft UK Welcome to the Explore the Digital Future Programme
The Microsoft team shares their ambitions for this innovative new programme that is a core part of their mission: to empower every person on the planet to achieve more.
4.05pm- Discover
Our educator team gives an overview of the Explore the Digital Future programme and how it could have a powerful impact on young people’s futures by inspiring them towards careers in tech and giving them an understanding and practical experience of the digital and soft skills that will get them there through ethical values based on trust and inclusion.
4.15pm- Explore
Our educator team will guide you through the modules and explore opportunities for learner participation and practical development of digital skills. We’ll dive into the lesson materials format and how they are designed to work in a classroom context. We’ll also explore the comprehensive educator materials and explain how they link to the Scottish curriculum.
4.35pm- Practise
The last session will uncover the wider opportunities for learner participation in experiences that will allow them to develop digital and soft skills on real-world projects such as the Imagine Cup and how these apply to age ranges, CfE levels and target groups.
4.50pm- Q+A
Ask the panel session which allows educators the chance to ask questions about the programme and feedback on the session.
