This second session will focus on coding and how Microsoft’s Explore the Digital Future programme can support educators to open students’ minds to careers in digital industries. Give students the opportunity to explore the careers coding can offer, the human skills it can develop, and how we can dispel coding misconceptions. This five-part professional learning programme will take you through the full Explore Digital Future programme and give educators a clear understanding of the content and how it relates to research and our curriculum in Scotland.
Each session will cover a different topic/unit and we will break it down into 3 steps for each session – exploring resources, a live demo of how it works and how the programme links to research. 45-an hour for each session.
TA Scotland is teaming up with the Digital Learning team from Education Scotland and Microsoft to develop this professional learning programme for Scotland’s educators. Our aim for this programme is to develop educators confident use of Microsoft’s Explore the Digital Future programme. Explore the digital future aims to prepare young people for the technology-driven world of tomorrow, demonstrate how diversity helps build better technology, and how it can be used as a force for positive change. The programme brings together the best resources from Microsoft and our industry-leading partners. The resources are developed with educators, connect with all UK curricula, and created as accessible PDFs in both English and Welsh. Take a creative approach to digital skills education with classroom activities, challenges and more. Once completed, students get a certificate to celebrate their success.
Tablet Academy Scotland will deliver 50% of the sessions and Education Scotland will deliver the other half of the programme. This will be a certificated course that links in with GTCSÂ Professional Standards. Our full-time team and wider partner consultants at TA Scotland are all Scottish qualified educators with Microsoft expertise. Everyone in the team has significant experience delivering training, coaching and strategic digital transformation programmes with schools, further/higher education and local authorities across Scotland. We also hand-pick all our team based on their presentation style and ability to empathise with educators. Our team can often be found presenting on behalf of Microsoft and we have a range of Microsoft certifications across the team:Â MIE Expert, MIE Master Trainer and Microsoft Certified Educator.
